Leeds United evening headlines: Orta speaks out over ‘abuse’, Whites handed fine

The latest headlines from Leeds United as the Whites continue their push for an immediate return to the Premier League. Leeds United has been hit with a fine by the Football Association (FA) following a public incident involving a fan, Victor Orta, who was abused for 30 minutes without stopping. The club has also been punished by an Independent Regulatory Commission following the incident. The FA stated that Leeds United failed to ensure spectators and supporters conduct themselves in an orderly manner and that any use of improper language or behaviour was deemed improper. Orta's comments follow a recent interview with former manager Marcelo Bielsa, praising him for his detail-oriented coaching.

The latest headlines from Leeds United as the Whites continue their push for an immediate return to the Premier League.

After trailing by two goals when the half-time whistle was blown at Carrow Road, Daniel Farke’s side blasted their way back into the contest during the second-half as a Shane Duffy own goal and a Crysencio Summerville brace helped the Whites boss to a dramatic win against his former club.

The result left the Farke’s men in third place in the Championship table, six points behind second placed Ipswich Town and a further five points adrift of leaders Leicester City. All eyes now turn towards Wednesday night’s trip to Stoke City as the Whites look to claim a fourth consecutive win and strengthen their claim to a play-off spot.

Victor Orta opens up on ‘abuse’ at Elland Road

Speaking to the i from his new post as sporting director at LaLiga side Sevilla, Orta said: “You hear a person abuse you for 30 minutes without stop and his last words were: ‘If you don’t bring any players in the winter market, be careful with your son.’

“I agree it was a bad example but I’d like to know how many people could be cool after a level of abuse like that.”

Whites fan David Derbyshire was handed a 12-week prison sentence for assault following the incident - but the club have now also been punished by an Independent Regulatory Commission.

An FA statement released on Monday read: “Leeds United admitted that they failed to ensure their spectators and/or supporters (and anyone purporting to be supporters or followers) conduct themselves in an orderly fashion and don’t use words or behaviour which are improper, offensive, violent, threatening, abusive, insulting or provocative,” an FA statement read on Monday.”

Koch is currently spending a season-long loan spell with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt and has impressed during the opening months of the campaign. But the eight-times capped Germany international took time to reflect on his time at Elland Road and showered his former manager with wholesome praise during a recent interview.

“In Marcelo Bielsa, I had a special coach at times. I’ve never seen a coach who works in such detail. I don’t know how many games he watches a week. It feels like all of them. He knows pretty much everything about football, which is unbelievable. We always knew exactly what to expect because he analysed everything. (He’s) a world-class coach like Pep Guardiola.”
